Prosecutor’s Office investigates Valledupar councilors for “turtle plan”

The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation opened a preliminary investigation against officials to be established from the Valledupar Council for alleged irregularities by not assuming the commitments with future ordinary validity.

The Public Ministry verifies whether the president of the corporation, Joserth José Gómez Contreras, would have omitted to process the additions of resources to the general budget of income, capital resources and expenses of the municipality for the period from January to December 2023.

In addition, apparently the neglect to authorize the mayor to assume the commitments with the ordinary future validity of Valledupar; and if these decisions substantially affected the management of him and the community.

In this way, the Attorney General’s Office corroborates which public officials have carried out the denounced behaviors and establishes if it constitutes a disciplinary offense.

BACKGROUND

With an urgent message, the Valledupar Mayor’s Office took two projects to the Municipal Council. The first consists of paving rural roads in the corregimientos, with a contribution from Invías; and the second, as the statement says, consists of adding resources to the municipality’s budget.
The councilors have not studied the projects and have delayed their process. EL PILÓN tried to communicate with councilor Joserth Gómez, however, there was no response.
