Protected 68% of over 80s, few booked among the nineties: the point of the vaccination campaign in Fvg

UDINE. The coverage of most of the over 80 by the end of April, as ensured by the Region, is worth a slice of the population still to be immunized, with at least one dose, between 20% and 30% of that age group depending on that the data of the reservations or that of the entitled parties are taken into consideration.

The numbers, in fact, say that Friuli Venezia Giulia does not travel among the top positions for the average immunizations of the elderly due, above all, to a low adhesion among those over 90 which seems to be, at least at the moment, unwilling to join the campaign.

The more than 8 thousand vaccinations carried out on Monday 12 allowed Friuli Venezia Giulia to take another small step forward in the immunization of the elderly since, after the circular from Commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, now – references aside – can be only those over 60 are covered.

The first goal is to vaccinate those over 80 who, however, especially among the 90s, are serving a non-massive membership in the campaign.

If, in fact, in the range between 80 and 89, bookings reached 72% of the total – data on Friday and positive, although not excellent – among those over 90 in the region – that is almost 26 thousand people – we are just to 47% of the total.

If to this, then, we add the fact that almost 15,000 elderly people must be vaccinated at home, and this part of the campaign is certainly not continuing with the accelerator pressed to the maximum although it is improving, the summary says that, up to this point currently, Friuli Venezia Giulia immunized 68.4% of the total over 80, equal to just under 78% of those booked.
By analyzing the partial vaccinations of Friuli Venezia Giulia relating to over 80s and comparing it with that of the other regions, at least a couple of interesting analyzes can be drawn.

The first says that the two Regions with the highest numerical presence and percentage of over 80 on the population, that is Liguria and Friuli Venezia Giulia (we are more or less 108 thousand) are not at the top for first administrations.

The second, on the other hand, leads to discover how some of the largest regions run more in this category – Basilicata apart -, that is, as can be seen from the table published on the page, Veneto, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna.

The situation, however, is better – probably demonstrating how a certain amount of reserve stocks have always been kept in Friuli Venezia Giulia to guarantee boosters – among the 80-year-olds who have completed the complete vaccination cycle.

In this case, in fact, Friuli Venezia Giulia travels on 44% of the total with the region in ninth place nationally, in front of, in this case, also Veneto and Lombardy.

If for the 80-year-olds it is possible to make a homogeneous comparison given that all the Regions have been opening vaccination agendas for months and are immunizing the older ones, it becomes slightly more difficult to draw up a – albeit very partial – ranking for the other age groups considered as in in this case the territories are proceeding each on their own.

Friuli Venezia Giulia, for example, is among the only four Regions that have opened bookings to all those who are at least 60 years old, while there are others still in previous steps, such as Veneto which has entrusted those for the 70 range. -74 to general practitioners who will contact citizens directly or the Province of Trento still stopped for over 75s.

A small jumble of rules, in a nutshell which, however, does not prevent a first, albeit summary, analysis of the data and a comparison between territories.

Friuli Venezia Giulia, for example, is seventh in Italy for the administration of vaccines to the population between 70 and 79 years – with, among other things, a membership of less than 67% of those entitled – and substantially in line with the other regions for as regards the 60-year-olds where, however, we obviously speak almost exclusively of people belonging to the priority categories – from doctors to teachers – because the first appointments for this age group have been set from the beginning of May. –
