The accident on Saturday afternoon, the man transported the driver of the car to the Cto Illeso. Traffic blocked for hours
Luca Tersi, 52, resident in the province of Reggio Emilia but moved to Canavese for some time, is still hospitalized in conditions defined by the “critical” doctors at the San Giovanni Bosco hospital in Turin. On Saturday afternoon, 3 July, he was driving his Ape Piaggio cross involved in a road accident inside the Quagliuzzo tunnel on the Pedemontana 565.
His vehicle was headed for Ivrea when it was violently rear-ended by a Renault Capture.
The dynamics of the accident still have aspects to be clarified: at the time of the collision in the tunnel the lighting was working (often the electric current jumps), the car apparently was not in overtaking maneuvers (among other things, it was forbidden and very dangerous, with double continuous strip) and, according to one testimony, at the entrance to the tunnel the two vehicles were at a safe distance even if the Ape was proceeding at moderate speed. The three-wheeler, after being hit by Renault, overturned in the middle of the roadway.
The condition of his driver appeared serious right from the start. Rescue was immediately called by some motorists who followed the two vehicles.
“I heard a thud. Then I saw the Ape overturned in the middle of the roadway while the pieces were scattered everywhere »said a woman, heading towards Castellamonte, and who was not involved in the accident for a matter of seconds.
Luca Tersi was conscious at the arrival of the 118 doctors, but very suffering. He was stabilized before being transferred by ambulance to Giovanni Bosco in Turin. The driver of the car was slightly injured, but visibly in shock. The dynamics of the accident will be clarified by the carabinieri of the Ivrea radio-mobile unit who made the findings and collected various testimonies.
The Rivarolo firefighters who secured the vehicles were also on site. The Pedemontana was closed to traffic to allow the timely arrival of the emergency vehicles and to carry out the surveys made by the military of the Arma. The employees of the Metropolitan City then cleared a lane allowing the alternating one-way transit.
