The goal is to increase the Gender Equality Index of the European Institute for Gender Equality by five points by 2026: Italy is currently in 14th place with 63.5 points out of 100 (4.4 less than the European average) .
Investments will also concretely implement policies for reducing the gender gap. First of all, the approximately 7 billion of the NRP between support for work, female entrepreneurship and nursery schools. The latter were included in the Budget Law among the essential services to be guaranteed in the territory, thanks to the commitment of the Minister for the South Mara Carfagna. The Mezzogiorno, in fact, will particularly benefit from the objective set by the plan: to guarantee a place in the nursery for 33% of children by 2027.

The ranking is defined by the average of the scores achieved in 12 indicators relating to the female world in its many facets: life expectancy at birth; the employment rate of women and youth employment; the gender employment gap; the rate of non-participation in work; the pay gap between men and women; the number of female businesses; female directors, both in companies and in municipalities; sexual violence; performance in sport; Olympic performance.
