The meeting between the regional councilor for transport Marco Falcone and the top management of Trenitalia in Sicily

The Regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Transport, Marco Falcone, met with the regional leaders of Trenitalia and the associations that make up the Regional Observatory on the progress of the railway service in Sicily, a body established by the Musumeci government in 2018. On the table, the suspension of the races between Catania and Syracuse from 13 June until the end of July and, from 13 June to 11 September, between Catania and Palermo.

«It was – explains the exponent of the Musumeci government – of a fruitful meeting of in-depth analysis on the potential inconveniences due to the construction sites which, from now to September, will affect the Catania-Syracuse and Catania-Palermo lines. We are planning some work that cannot be postponed related to the technological upgrading of the railway to Syracuse, while between Bicocca and Catenanuova, on the Catania-Palermo, interventions will be carried out related to the doubling of the section, which costs 400 million euros. To cushion the impact of the suspension of services, we reached an agreement for two replacement buses on the Ct-Sr, both direct and scheduled for stops in Lentini, Augusta and Priolo. As for the Catania-Palermo bus, we add three additional round trips to the replacement buses provided by Trenitalia thanks to the availability of Sais Autolinee ».

“Finally, we want to thank – concludes Falcone – the commuter associations for their availability and express our appreciation for their supervisory role and virtuous stimulus for the entire railway system in Sicily”.
