Regional museum of natural sciences reopens after 10 years in Turin – News

The Regional Museum of Natural Sciences in Turin reopens after ten years with an interactive exhibition itinerary that develops over three main areas: Historical Museum of Zoology, Ark of Explorations and Hall of Wonders. For now it is 2,000 square meters out of a total of 9,000, completion is expected by 2030. From tomorrow 13 January until 2 February entry will be free.
“2024 is the year of the rebirth of the Museum. It is one of the examples of a Piedmont that has unblocked itself and restarted. For ten years it was an open wound for Turin and for Piedmont. Today we reopen one of the places most loved by Piedmontese, a museum that also has an international dimension, one of the most important in the world“, said the president of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, who convened the Council’s press conference at the beginning of the year in the museum.
The Region has invested over 8.3 million euros since 2020 for the Museum, closed after the fire caused by the explosion of a gas cylinder in August 2013. The resources were used to bring the systems up to standard and the usability and for plant and construction interventions necessary for the issue of the certificate of usability of the premises of the Ark, of the Historical Museum of Zoology, of the South Channel Cruise on the ground floor and of the ‘Permanent Paleontology Exhibition’ premises. Among the new features are 2 video mappings and a totem equipped with generative Artificial Intelligence.
