The movement fears “economic damage” to commercial activities and calls for a “thorough review” of the document
The general plan of urban traffic published by the Municipality of Aosta is “totally detached from the reality of the city, it would almost seem drawn up by those who do not know the city at all”. This is supported in a well-known Renaissance VdA.
The movement criticizes the document from several points of view. The traffic plan would have “largely generic and vague as well as technically unsupported contents” and would represent “the trigger of enormous economic damage for many commercial activities, effectively depriving them of customer flows”. Rinascimento’s opinion is that, in general, the Traffic Plan “completely neglects investments (raising funds and related procedures and times) for implementation”. The example is that of the roundabout of the Arch of Augustus and of the seats positioned «on the asphalt of the old road without immediately implementing investments in remaking the flooring and suitable street furniture».
“We can only be very unfavorable with respect to the contents of the document adopted by the majority,” says in a note the president of the Renaissance VdA and municipal councilor in Aosta Giovanni Girardini. “We hope for a profound re-examination that starts from the consultation of the economic categories, of the citizens’ representatives, from the same Regional Administration which seems to us not to be involved at all and above all from the careful knowledge of the specificities of our city”.
