Until about ten years ago, Italy was on the podium in the European rankings for growth in the renewable energy sector. Thanks to the historic presence of its large hydroelectric plants, which from the end of the 19th century guaranteed industrial development by exploiting the reservoirs along the Alpine arc, our country could boast of being immediately behind the Scandinavian countries, with Denmark, even ahead of Germany.
