The parents and the sister of the former Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, have been sent for trial. Judge Federico Zampaoli established this at the end of the preliminary hearing, reiterating the accusations against Tiziano Renzi, Laura Bovoli and Matilde Renzi of fraudulent declaration in order to evade taxes using invoices for non-existent operations and unfaithful tax return. The first hearing will be held before the court of Florence in March 2022.
This new line of investigation stems from previous investigations by the same Florentine prosecutors on the family company of the Renzi spouses, Eventi 6. According to what was reconstructed by the investigators of the Guardia di Finanza, in the tax returns from 2016 to 2019, he would have indicated fictitious liabilities for a total of approximately € 5 and a half million, evading taxes of € 1.2 million. According to the prosecution, these illicit operations arose from the relations of the Renzi spouses with the Marmodiv cooperative, an advertising service company that went bankrupt.
Tiziano Renzi will go to trial as de facto administrator of Eventi 6, a service company based in Rignano sull’Arno (Florence), his wife Laura Bovoli instead as legal representative of the srl. Matilde Renzi also goes to trial as legal representative, but only for the period 2018.
