Helicopter rescue and land searches in Ollomont to find 4 Italians and 1 French. Then the discovery: they had already returned home

OLLOMONT. The Valle d’Aosta Alpine Rescue and the Guardia di Finanza Alpine Rescue were activated this evening after receiving the report of a group of hikers, probably snowshoeing, missing in the Ollomont area.

The five – four Italians who had left and a French – had left Milan and left the car in the Glassier area, where it was found, to head towards the lake of La Clusaz. Having no more news from them, the relatives from Milan raised the alarm.

At 6:45 pm the start of operations with the take-off of the helicopter rescue, which, however, was unable to reach the area due to bad weather conditions and poor visibility. The searches therefore also took place by land with the activation of two teams and the involvement of the Sagf.

Only late in the evening did it emerge that it was a false alarm: the four Italians had already returned on Saturday while the French had reached and stayed overnight at the Regondi bivouac, leaving his car in the valley. “Unaware of the alarm given by his parents, he has no need for medical intervention,” says the Unica Rescue Center of Aosta.
