The notice of extension of the preliminary investigations was notified to the governor Vincenzo De Luca this morning, Friday 5 November, while he was in the premises of the Civil Engineers of Salerno. From what is learned from circles close to the former mayor of Salerno, the hypothesis that is contested by the Salerno prosecutor’s office is of complicity in corruption. De Luca, therefore, is under investigation as part of the investigation into the alleged rigged contracts to the Municipality of Salerno, and the relations between the Salerno municipal administration and social cooperatives in which another 29 people are involved including the mayor Vincenzo Napoli and the regional councilor Nino Savastano .
Last month the judicial earthquake
Last month, on 11 October, exactly one week after the vote, city and regional politics were overwhelmed by an investigation by the Salerno prosecutor’s office which led to the execution of ten precautionary measures. Savastano under house arrest, close to De Luca and his councilor when the governor was mayor of Salerno. In prison, however, Fiorenzo Zoccola, president of a social cooperative, in fact linked to other coop, over the years centralizer of many services entrusted by the Salerno municipality. In Savastano and Zoccola, the prosecutor also challenged the crime of electoral corruption. In fact, from the investigations carried out by the Flying Squad, the existence of an agreement between the two would have emerged: Savastano would have promised the awarding and extension of the assignments in exchange for supporting the regional elections of September 2020. Understanding that the commissioner – then elected to the Regional Council with 16,569 votes in the coalition in support of De Luca – he would have carried on preparing and supporting the council resolutions relating to the assignment of services.
The mayor of Naples is also investigated
At least 29 suspects. Among these also the mayor of the city Vincenzo Napoli, reconfirmed in the last electoral round with 57% of the votes: the hypotheses against him would be those of disturbed freedom of the enchantments with the aggravating circumstance of the abuse of office. In particular, Naples is involved in the investigation together with his collaborator Felice Marotta and the president of the in-house company “Salerno Pulita”, Antonio Ferraro. For the Prosecutor, together with some representatives of the cooperatives, they would have disturbed the tender for the rental of a street washer for the subsidiary.
