According to the investigation of the prosecutor of Patti, the existence of a complex mechanism of auction disruption was ascertained, in which the mayor Paratore, with the complicity of a municipal official, favored some companies and professionals closest to him, who had been entrusted with the work for the nourishment of the coastal stretch in front of the town of Falcone, works financed for several million euros by the Sicilian Region “, as explained by the carabinieri of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto who this morning notified the provisions of the investigating judge According to the findings of the investigation, “the other economic operators who intended to participate in public tenders, unrelated to the long-tested system, were somehow invited and persuaded to step aside”. Furthermore, the mayor, who was also “Rup” (sole responsible for the procedure) of those nourishment works, would have “piloted the tenders in favor of companies close to him, in order to speed up the execution times of the works and spend the result of the start of those works during the next electoral campaign, so as to obtain greater consensus ». In an interception, the investigators heard Paratore say to some professionals close to him: “I must be the mayor, because if I’m not the mayor, you won’t spend a single penny here !!”.
In describing the role of the mayor of Falcone in the order, the investigating judge Aliquò underlines “the ability of the Paratore to influence the normal development of the administrative action, preventing it from manifesting itself through the observance of the rules of impartiality …” .
