RIMINI – A brutal murder shocked the city of Rimini on Sunday evening, just before 8pm. A man from 1947, of Filipino nationality, was brutally attacked and stabbed, bleeding to death, in front of the station. The attacker escaped on a bicycle and the weapon has not yet been found. The motive is still unknown.
According to initial reconstructions, the crime took place around 7.30 pm at the bus stop in front of the railway station. The victim, residing in the Rimini area, was probably standing leaning against a pole, probably waiting for the bus, when he ended up under the fury of his attacker. The latter, a man “dressed in dark”, would have arrived from the parking lot of the station and headed for the bus stop. Here was the victim who was allegedly reached from behind and stabbed.
So far, he may have been hit only once but firmly, at the base of the skull, from behind. The carotid artery would have been severed and for the 74-year-old there would have been nothing to do. He collapsed on himself and then fell. Bled to death under the gaze of several people who passed in the area, quite busy at that hour, but who would not have given the alarm immediately. The attacker was reportedly seen fleeing towards the canal port on a bicycle. It is not clear whether the vehicle belonged to the victim, as emerged at first, or not.
The police also alerted the firefighters to open the bins of the train station to probably search for the murder weapon, a knife or an awl. The investigations of the Rimini mobile team will have to shed light on these countless aspects, primarily the motive for what happened. The detail of the assault in the back, if confirmed, could be decisive. At the moment, a robbery seems to be excluded, as the victim would still have his wallet, purse and other personal effects with him. The investigations are open. Meanwhile, it’s a manhunt. Several witnesses that the police are hearing and will continue to hear in the next few hours.
