RIVAROLO CANAVESE. It was already clear to the carabinieri, and not just them, since Sunday afternoon. The fifteen-year-old was transported to the Ivrea hospital because she was found half-unconscious by the firefighters in the parvis of the deconsecrated church in the Gave hamlet, while some pallets burned because they were intentionally set on fire, she was in an ethyl coma. Very high alcohol level in his blood which, together with the smoke he breathed, could even cause death. Now four of his seven friends are in trouble, between the ages of 14 and 17, although they may not be. Because if it is true that the call to 112 was made by one of them, when the situation had gotten out of hand by the whole group, it is also true – as evidenced by some testimonies also collected in Ozegna – that the girl was brought to drink beyond all limits right from the herd. And the party in the deconsecrated church in the hamlet of Gave, in the midst of corn fields and reachable only by a dirt road, could have turned into a tragedy.
The four young men reported that area knew it like the back of their hand: “They boasted of bringing the girls there to get away with them,” one whispers in the corridors of schools frequented by teenagers.
“No black mass or satanic rite – Captain Manuel Grasso told the carabinieri, justifying themselves – only the desire to meet and be together after months of lockdown”.
But among the rubbish, of which the area abounds, the Arma soldiers had not escaped several bottles of spirits that had certainly not been there since time immemorial. Vodka and gin, particularly along with industrial quantities of beer cans and some leftover joint. “We didn’t want to set fire to the church, but just warm up”, they also said to lighten a rather heavy position, at least for those who – seeing their friend on the ground fainted (she was also the only girl in the group) – thought it best to staggering away.
One of the “survivors” made the call that, in fact, could have saved her friend’s life, but the alibi of “passing by here by chance” lasted the space of a gulp of vodka.
