FOGGIA – A man killed and a six-year-old boy in very serious condition after an ambush during the celebrations for the victory of Italy. Matteo Anastasio, 42 years old from San Severo (Foggia), was on a scooter with his grandson after the victory on penalties against England in the final of the European Championships.

Anastasio, whose brother killed a girl by mistake in 2002 and then died in another ambush, was joined by a motorcycle on which two men were traveling with full-face helmets. Four or five shots were fired at him with a 7.65 caliber pistol. The man was taken to the hospital where he arrived in desperate conditions.

The six-year-old grandson, who was seriously injured, was hospitalized in intensive care at the Policlinico Riuniti in Foggia: he too was hit by a gunshot to the abdomen during the shooting. The child is in a pharmacological coma and his condition is defined as critical even if stable. It is in a reserved prognosis.

The victim was the brother of Giuseppe Anastasio, 33, also murdered in San Severo, on February 5, 2017. Giuseppe Anastasio was killed with a few shots of 7.65 pistols, the same caliber of the weapon used to kill his brother Matteo. The man was convicted of killing a 12-year-old girl in 2002, Stella Costa.

Anastasio fired a few gunshots at another man but one of the bullets hit the little girl who had gone down to the street, with her mother, to throw out the garbage. In 2003 Giuseppe Anastasio was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment with the abbreviated rite. For the crime of Giuseppe Anastasio, the investigators ruled out the hypothesis of a revenge for the murder of little Stella Costa.
