San Vittore, roof and staircase in pieces. “The border funds must be exploited”

Criticize some choices made by the rector Don Sergio Dalla Rosa and the indifference of the Municipality of Feltre

FELT. Too much money invested in things of secondary importance, such as the garages of the Sanctuary at the service of the guesthouse, and the indifference, or the non-choice, by the municipality of Feltre to be able to insert the historic-artistic monument on Miesna in an area programming vast to secure the Basilica from major structural problems concerning the roof and the access stairway which are in poor condition.

A group of citizens attentive to the conditions of the Sanctuary, and close to the association Santi Martiri Vittore e Corona, came forward, with a press release, to challenge some choices made by the rector, and to urge the public body to intervene on a good that represents the emblem of feltrinity.

“The rector of San Vittore, Don Sergio Dalla Rosa, raised (and this is not the first time) the problem of the roof of the sanctuary, whose deteriorating conditions are putting the integrity of the interior at risk”, the note highlights.

“It is astonishing that it has not yet been resolved, given that the last intervention, by the Superintendency dates back to forty years ago, without forgetting the damage caused by hurricane Vaia in October 2018. Three years of distance, it is natural to ask oneself if a project has been made, if the authorization of the Superintendency has been requested and if it has already carried out the necessary inspection ».

«In fact, it is well known that any intervention must have access to a complex bureaucratic process, all the more essential if it is a structure with more than a thousand years of history. Faced with this objective priority, it is surprising that the 200 thousand euros of the Mastel legacy were entirely spent on the construction of some garages. In our opinion it is a very priority intervention and, above all, with a disproportionate cost compared to the result ».

In addition to the roof, whose infiltrations could compromise the state of the interior, there is also the problem of the access stairway which “is in such degraded conditions as to compromise its safety”.

“This too is a situation that has been denounced for some time, which does not seem to get due attention, while the proposal is being made to use the material resulting from the excavation of the fortress carried out to obtain the spaces for the garages, in order to create a small square down in Anzù. », Is highlighted in the note of the citizens attentive to the state of conservation of the building on the Miesna.

“It is natural to ask, at this point, if the mayor of Feltre has ever been interested in the problem of the roof, by providing all the necessary documentation, in order to start the practice of financing on border funds, on the model of what was obtained by the municipality of Sovramonte. It would also be an opportunity for the Municipality to arrange the access road to the Rocchetta. We hope that the solution of all these problems can be found quickly ».

For the record: the stake placed in piles varies between 25 and 30 million eurosor for large area projects in the Feltre area. The basilica of Saints Vittore and Corona could also be included in the future planning, which requires extremely urgent interventions, as repeatedly stressed by the rector Don Sergio Dalla Rosa.

And the president of the Feltrina Mountain Union, Federico Dalla Torre, had already said he was convinced of the advisability of preparing a notice under the heading “religious cultural buildings”. Who on the one hand had already invited the rector Don Sergio to formalize a specific request on the interventions to be addressed for the decoration and enhancement of the historic monument, on the other hand he never refrained from suggesting to his fellow mayors of neighboring municipalities to consider in the program future of a vast area the sanctuary on the Miesna.
