“We need a provision that protects businesses, our tradition and our history”. The regional councilor Marco Scajola thus spoke at the assembly of seaside businesses organized by Confartigianato in Sanremo. At the center of the meeting, the problems always linked to the Bolkestein Directive and the duration of concessions, to give a real perspective to businesses and seaside tourism.

The National President of Confartigianato Imprese Mauro Vanni also spoke for the occasion, presented by the director of Confartigianato Imperia Barbara Biale. “We are going through a historic moment for dealers, in which we must unite because unity will give us the strength to overcome this problem and move forward – said Vanni – We are working for a common table with the Government, but unity must exist. also with the Regions and the various Administrations. We are trying to make it clear that protecting businesses and the seaside model means protecting a national heritage. What our companies have created represents an excellence that the whole world envies us and that cannot be destroyed. Our companies have never given up and therefore expect the government to protect them. We represent around 30,000 businesses, which need certain answers to continue investing by creating wealth in the country. Italy has 8,000 kilometers of coastline, and Liguria is one of the most important regions from a seaside point of view ”.

“We asked for a meeting with the Government, because we need rules – added the commissioner Marco Scajola – we cannot resign ourselves to a sentence of the Council of State, I believe that politics must play its part. In the province of Imperia the consequences would be very heavy for many companies, due to the uncertainty that would be created. We are now heading towards the spring and summer season and businesses are still suspended. The Government must intervene with measures that give certainty to the companies and to the workers themselves “.

The councilors Mauro Menozzi of the Municipality of Sanremo and Gianmarco Oneglio of the Municipality of Imperia also participated in the Confartigianato assembly. “We hope that the State will be able to make it clear that the Italian problem is special compared to the rest of Europe – declared Menozzi – In fact, this Directive cannot be applied in an undifferentiated manner throughout the Continent”.
