VF Group Athletics against the council: “The deputy mayor of Santa Lucia trains in San Vendemiano and they ask us to take charge of the restructuring of the track”
SANTA LUCIA DI PIAVE. The athletics track is a gruyere and there are inaccessible platforms, such as the high jump one. “Many unfulfilled promises by the Szusmki administration,” say from VF Group Atletica, a club that has 180 youngsters registered. Today the company wanted to publicly denounce the situation of serious hardship that has been going on for some time.
“We can no longer accept that our commitment will be laughed at – explains the athletics Santa Lucia chaired by Ivano Corsano – just when our company has committed over 20 thousand euros of resources and savings for a redevelopment project of the athletics track and the collection of legal opinions that make it possible to shape a management plan. A commitment that we took with a great sense of responsibility and that we shared with the city council in September ». In the city council, however, a commitment of half a million euros was defined in the Single Programming Document 2022-2024, approved in December.
«The Dup describes the will, never expressed, of our association to take charge of the entire redevelopment project estimated at around 500 thousand euros – observes VF Group Atletica -. We cannot share a way of administering that completely excludes confrontation, the sharing of projects and which, unilaterally, assigns important spending commitments to an association that bases its activity on volunteering ». Seeing Deputy Mayor Luca Bellotto training on the new San Vendemiano track was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“While VFGroup Atletica Santa Lucia is waiting for a response from the Szumski administration – writes the company – the deputy mayor Bellotto does not fail to make public how beautiful it is to train in an athletics track”. On Tuesday evening the deputy mayor was training in San Vendemiano to participate in a half marathon. “I follow my coach and we are a group of friends,” replies Bellotto, who prefers to turn off the controversy. Mayor Riccardo Szusmki will meet with the president of athletics to clarify the situation and define a project for the renovation of the facility.
