A long post on Instagram to say goodbye after five successful winters. Petra Vlhova greets and thanks the Italian coach Livio Magoni, who this season led her up to winning the World Cup last March. A trophy that was added to the six world medals and the specialty trophies in giant and slalom previously won. That the relationship had cracked, however, was understood in recent weeks, when some outings of the Bergamo coach had infuriated the Slovak champion’s staff and the sporting separation was the foreseeable consequence.
“It’s been a long and tortuous journey through everything we’ve ever wanted desperately. Eventually, the dream came true and I can hold the largest crystal ball in my hands – says Petra -. It was five incredible years with you, Livio, during which I learned a lot. I am immensely grateful for your time, your infinite energy, your perfectionism and the hope you have always instilled in me. One door closes and thousands open, we just have to choose the right ones for us. This time, our doors are different. Thanks Livio Magoni ».
The 25-year-old Slovakian then reported a message of thanks from her brother-manager Igor and one from Magoni himself, who said: “Five beautiful and incredible years passed quickly with an athlete who believed in me, in my working methods and concepts. We reached the summit, on top of that mountain that was very high five years ago, with many sweet satisfactions in between, all obtained with great sacrifices ». Then, after thanking his half-Italian staff and the Slovak fans, he apologized for the mistakes made in the five years, guaranteeing that he did everything he could.
Uncertainty about the future of Magoni, who in recent weeks has revealed that he has received several other offers from abroad.
