◆ It is interesting that the character of the writer is increasingly at the center of novels, films, series. A few weeks ago Sky even dedicated an entire section to the writer according to cinema. If you think that the ambition to write novels has become mass, if you think that the title of writer is particularly widespread and particularly coveted precisely today that its public weight is increasingly waning, perhaps take a look at what kind of writer appears on the screen is not useless. The absent-minded person who destroys himself by distilling alleged works of genius with a pinch of madness is in sharp decline. Instead, the best-selling author triumphs, much more male than female, at the height of fame or, if anything, in a dark crisis. His craft is often just a starting point for starting intricate plots. The writer is a man of action, he ends up in yellow stories, of espionage, thrillers, he is in league with Satan, he violates the boundaries with other worlds, he reveals himself to be an icy weaver of murderous webs. It is excluded that you see him at the desk and it is very rare that he digs, if not in the problems of the world, at least in the problems of writing and publishing (when he does, he is a writer, as in Let them talk by Steven Soderbergh). In short, the character-writer seems to be a hero suited to the standardization of the need for exceptionality.
