SEVENTH VICTON.The Municipality of Settimo Vittone also benefited from the European WiFi4Eu contribution, which finances the installation of wi-fi connection systems and connection costs for the next three years with the aim of reducing the gap in internet connections in small municipalities, especially if mountain.
After participating in the tender, the executive of the mayor Sabrina Noro with 15 thousand euros installed wi-fi equipment in public spaces that do not have a free Wi-fi hotspot. Thirteen of those activated in recent weeks in the village, eight internal and five external. The connection points are active in the town hall square, in the town hall, in the former seat of the mountain community, at the Piantagrant hall, at the baptistery of San Lorenzo and at the multipurpose hall of Montestrutto.
An antenna was also placed in Cornaley. The Wifi4Eu service joins the one already offered by the Wireless without borders project, to which the Municipality and the Mombarone Union have joined since 2018 to facilitate access to the Internet in peripheral areas.
«Through the two access points to the service, active at the middle school and in the nearby Municipality of Tavagnasco – informs the councilor for public works Ivo Peretto – a good part of the municipal area is covered, only a few villages in the high mountains remain uncovered. It is a constantly evolving project that develops on the basis of the needs of citizens ». It was activated with connections of 30Mb / sec of bandwidth, and was then expanded to 50Mb / sec during the pandemic to facilitate Dad and smartworking.

A new access point for signal distribution was installed in the pole for receiving television signals in Valmorto di Tavagnasco: a strategic point that distributes the signal to Settimo Vittone and Tavagnasco. Two other antennas will be placed in the roundabout at the entrance to Carema. And on the roof of the restaurant Genzianella di Andrate. In all, fifteen distribute the signal to 5,700 members, with a growth target of two thousand users per year. Tavagnasco is now joining the network of seven municipalities, which in 2017 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Wireless Without Borders association.
