Several injured in two fires in Dresden

The fire department in Dresden was called to two fires almost at the same time around 2 p.m. on Monday. A shop was on fire in the Mickten district and a balcony in Prohlis. Several people were injured in the fires, the fire department said.

During the fire in Mickten, the owner of the shop suffered burns and a firefighter suffered smoke poisoning. A total of twelve people were medically assessed. Residents were temporarily cared for in a tram. The fire produced heavy smoke that enveloped parts of Mickten and drifted towards Pieschen in strong winds.

Leipziger Straße was closed between Dreyßigplatz and Alttachau while the fire was extinguished. The trams on line 4 turned around in Mickten and went back to Laubegast. Until around 5 p.m. there were deviations from the timetable in the section between Mickten and Radebeul-Ost.
