GEMONA. She was run over by a train as she ran after her little dog. According to an initial reconstruction carried out by the railway police on the basis of the testimonies collected, Rita De Crignis, sixty-four years old, residing in Gemona, would have died.

The terrible accident occurred in the late afternoon of Saturday 24 July along the Gemona-Sacile railway line, a secondary line traveled in particular by freight trains.

At around 7 pm the driver realized what had happened, activated the emergency brake and immediately alerted the operations room of Rfi (Italian railway networks, the company that manages the national railway infrastructure). Shortly afterwards – we are in the area of ​​via Brondani – the 118 health workers, the firefighters of the Gemona detachment and the Polfer di Gemona agents arrived, who then also carried out the technical surveys.

Mercitalia Rail train 44237 stopped near the sports field between Gemona and Osoppo. The movement of trains was suspended to allow rescuers to operate. Despite their timely arrival, the doctor could not help but establish the death.

The magistrate on duty, the deputy prosecutor Luca Olivotto, was then informed, who authorized the removal of the body. The line was reopened shortly after 9pm. The dog, a small animal, was subsequently identified and accompanied home.
