Merchants in Huaqiangbei, known as the “First Street of China’s Electronics”, were also forced to close, and Shenzhen netizens left messages criticizing the authorities for excessive epidemic prevention.
The website of the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission of the Communist Party of China reported on June 26 that from 0:00 to 24:00 on the 25th, 4 new cases of asymptomatic infection of the new coronavirus (CCP virus) were added in Shenzhen, all of which were imported from abroad. From June 18th to June 24th, Shenzhen added 18 new cases of local infection, and the cases were mainly concentrated in Futian and Luohu districts.
On the 25th, the official announced that the community communities and urban villages in Futian District will implement closed management; large-scale conferences, performances, etc. will be suspended; all wholesale markets and indoor closed places will be suspended. The control time is tentatively set for 3 days, and will be adjusted later.
Starting from 0:00 on June 24, Shenzhen will enter the city’s transportation stations (airports, railway stations, bus stations, passenger terminals, subway stations), take public transportation (subway, bus, taxi, online car-hailing), enter public airtight Space, etc., must be accompanied by a 48-hour nucleic acid test negative certificate or a nucleic acid sampling certificate (record) on the same day (within 24 hours).
The closure and control of the epidemic directly affects economic development and merchants’ business. An owner of the second store in Huaqiangbei Electronic World told The Epoch Times reporter on the 26th that because of the epidemic, the merchants have closed their business and they have heard that the epidemic has been discovered in the market, but the details are unknown. He said that it is estimated that it will not be able to open for a few days and will have to wait for a while.
Wen Lei (pseudonym), the owner of a restaurant near Huaqiangbei, said, “We are an urban village, and we are all surrounded by Huaqiangbei. There (Huaqiangbei) is also very dangerous, and we cannot enter or leave.”
Wen Lei said that Futian District has all been closed, many communities have been closed, most restaurants are closed, and dine-in is not allowed. “Two confirmed cases have been found in the urban village, so the residents are surrounded, and we do nucleic acid inside.”
According to official news, the outbreak started on June 18, but the source and chain of transmission were not explained, so the situation in Futian District was severe. Because the CCP concealed the epidemic, the real situation cannot be known to the outside world.
The authorities have successively adopted strict control measures, including the closure of community communities and urban villages, suspension of operations at Huaqiang Road Station of Shenzhen Metro Line 1, Gangxia North Metro Station, strict restrictions on people gathering, and closure of cultural and entertainment venues.
