Shock call in Dresden: Fraudsters stole 80,000 euros from senior citizens

Fraudsters stole a total of 80,000 euros from two senior citizens in Dresden. The perpetrators called a 94-year-old on Monday and claimed that her daughter had caused a serious accident, police said. A bail of 50,000 euros is required so that the daughter does not have to go to prison. According to the police, the woman handed the money to a stranger at the front door and only noticed the fraud when she reached her daughter.

When a 96-year-old was called, the perpetrators reportedly pretended to be employees of a financial institution. Since counterfeit money was allegedly in circulation, they wanted to check the elderly woman’s cash, according to the police. The woman gave an unknown person 30,000 euros, who disappeared with it.
