Show, engravings, masters: in Treviso the Manzato high school of the future in the headquarters in piazza Pola

Here is the 13-year plan for the relaunch of the musical high school in line with the Municipality and the Conservatory. It will be a revolution

TREVISO. By next spring, the Manzato Musical High School will leave Piazza San Francesco to move to Piazza Pola in the former Bank of Italy building. But the undoubted leap in quality given by the change of address that will bring school and association in a context of absolute value is only part of the project for the relaunch of the institute which from 2022 is preparing for a real leap into the future.

total renovation

The decline of Palazzo da Borso, the current location, is ill-suited to the quality of the Treviso music school which over the years formed many talents thanks to trained and capable teachers. But it is undeniable how the institute has remained almost confined over the years to that image of palace antiquity. The cultural renewal program approved by the administration in recent days and designed in six hands with Manzato and Steffani Conservatory wants to put a “full stop”, starting from the already qualified school structure to project the Institute towards a future made of formal innovation and substantial creating a pole of training and musical and cultural production.

the plan to 2034 and the unusual consortium

The agreement is valid until 31 December 2034, and its objectives do not start with the move but already today with a thirteen-year perspective. The mayor Conte is aiming a lot, for the new president of the Manzato association Giovanna Cordova and the new board of directors is an open challenge. But it is a bet on which the Baccini Group, owner of the Bank of Italy, has also bet, which with the intercession of the former mayor Giovanni Manildo has worked to move the Manzato to his palace and then collect the approval of Conte.

the revolution

And here are the terms of the recovery plan. It starts with a reorganization of the training offer, better structured and broader, with simultaneous updating of teachers in line with the conservatory, to then expand to the school itself. There will be only one rehearsal for modern music open also to groups outside the Manzato; a music production room capable of extending training also to the “engineering” front and at the same time providing the school with a new operational resource; an educational path for electric bass will open (usually a landing place derived from guitar or double bass studies) and a series of student training masters with external teachers coordinated by the Steffani Conservatory; a plan will be launched for the internal realization of musical fairy tales to be exported to schools and also in collaboration with external realities (dance schools, creative workshops, etc.); a popular music department will be set up and one specifically devoted to the creation of musicals by making the students work in groups.

A strong public activity will be linked to all this, breaking the diaphragm that for so long has made Manzato live as an independent reality to the city. Epicenter could also be piazza Pola.

In the program there are more essays “in external”; the realization of at least 4 public concerts to which at least 6 “Saturday” concerts and an annual event at the Teatro Del Monaco will be linked. The social activity for the disabled started in recent years with “musicainsieme” will be confirmed and “summer camps” will also be organized for children between games and music. An ambitious (and expensive) program for which external financial partnerships are not excluded.
