Sicily in yellow from 30 August. Sardinia at high risk but for now it remains white

by admin

Sicily from Monday 30 August passes in yellow zone. And this time there should be no chance to “save himself” in extremis like last week. The weekly monitoring of the ISS on the basis of which the control room on Friday 27 August will decide on the color changes of the regions will in fact take into consideration the data on admissions recorded on Tuesday 24 August (today, ed). And today Sicily (well beyond the threshold of 50 weekly infections per 100 thousand inhabitants: we are 197) exceeds both parameters relating to hospitalizations. We are 12% of Covid patients (102 people, compared to 88 on Monday) hospitalized in intensive care (the threshold is 10 percent). And 19% in ordinary wards (740 people) compared to a threshold of 15 percent.

Still in the white belt Sardinia and Calabria

A step away from the yellow also Sardinia, which has not only exceeded the parameter of busy resuscitations (11%) but has risen 14% of hospitalizations in the other wards. And for a whisker it remains white. Calabria is less at risk: it is almost 15% of admissions in non-critical medical areas but it is “only” at 6% as regards intensive care.

The differences between white and yellow zone

It should also be clarified that the transition to the yellow zone would represent a blow to tourism, especially in terms of image, because it would not imply new closures. In fact, in the yellow band there are not many more restrictions than in the white band. The main ones are the obligation to always wear a mask outdoors, the limit of four people at the table in restaurants, unless they are all cohabiting (even if there are those who argue that in reality this restriction is no longer in force). And a smaller capacity for outdoor shows and sports facilities. In fact, in the white zone there is no numerical limit for concerts, cinemas, theatrical performances or stadiums. It is sufficient that the capacity does not exceed 50% of the maximum authorized outdoors and 25% indoors. In the yellow zone, on the other hand, there is a fixed limit. Maximum 2,500 outdoors and 1,000 indoors. It means that 30,000 can enter the white zone in a stadium of 60,000 people. In the yellow zone only 2,500.

Green pass obbligatorio

In both areas, however, there are no hourly limits to travel. The activities are all open (apart from the discos). But you need the green pass to participate in wedding parties, enter the residences for the elderly and access the waiting rooms of the emergency rooms and hospital wards. But also for sporting events, fairs, congresses, museums, theme and amusement parks, spas, bingo halls and casinos, theaters, cinemas, concerts, public competitions. In addition to sitting at indoor tables in bars and restaurants. And to enter swimming pools, gyms and wellness centers, limited to indoor activities.

The node of the beds considered in resuscitation

According to the decree of 23 July 2021 (article 2, paragraph 2) the regions are required to communicate to the control room the data of the beds available in therapy to the control room. The Ministry of Health completed the survey at the beginning of August. From what was ascertained by the Sole 24 Ore, the places in intensive care communicated by the Region Sicily I’m 840. A figure that can only be updated on a monthly basis “on the basis of additional beds”, provided, however, that these “do not affect those already existing and intended for other activities. In other words, the new beds should correspond to more doctors and nurses, not subtracted from other departments or beds already set up.
