Signs of life from three thousand years ago kept in Sant’Agapito

Cesiomaggiore: a Saturday entirely dedicated to archeology with tomorrow evening in Seravella. The Superintendency will present the results of the second excavation campaign carried out in the Valley

CESIOMAGGIORE. A first stratigraphic survey on a slope of the Salmenega stream had made it possible to trace some fragments dating back to around three thousand years ago in what is the period between the Bronze Age and the Bronze Age. Tomorrow at 8.30 pm the conference room of the Ethnographic Museum of Seravella will host the evening with the participation of the technicians of the Superintendence Chiara D’IncĆ  and Flavio Cafiero, who will present to the public the outcome of the recent, further investigations conducted in the Valle di Sant ‘ Agapito. The excavation campaign was promoted by the Municipality of Cesiomaggiore and the Gal Prealpi e Dolomiti as part of the Interreg VA Hereditas Italy-Austria 2014-2020 Project and carried out through the scientific collaboration of the Superintendency.

The attention to the research on the site was also shared by the ā€œArchaeo-historical Groupā€ of Cesiomaggiore.

Thanks also to the latest discoveries, the suggestive Sant’Agapito valley (so called due to the presence, in its innermost sector, of a sixteenth-century church) is enriched with other elements of historical and cultural interest that are accompanied by those of naturalistic value and environmental, for which the place is known among hikers. Tomorrow morning, from 11 to 18 it will be possible to participate in some guided tours by the archeologists who will illustrate the site and the excavation activities carried out.

Tomorrow is one of the collateral events in view of the Pelmo d’Oro ceremony, this year hosted in Cesiomaggiore on Saturday 24 July in the multifunctional hall of Pradenich. Different areas were touched and it will be like this until the end of August, between moments linked to history, sport, culture and much more. Without forgetting the possibility of visiting the Ethnographic Museum of Seravella (Saturday and Sunday 15-18.30) and the Bicycle Museum (Saturday and Sunday 9. 30-12.30 and 15-18), proverbial flagships of tourist and cultural proposal of Cesiomaggiore.

During the Sunday morning it will be possible to visit the educational apiary of the ApeRina Group at the Ethnographic Museum of Seravella, safely assisting the opening of the hives and tasting the honey. Mountain honey is a wealth of our territory that the group of Cesiolini beekeepers has been promoting for many years, attracting interest from the most attentive consumers. From 9 to 12 you can therefore see the worker bees, the queen, the drones up close. The beekeepers will be available to provide all the information on the world of bees and it will also be possible to buy the delicious nectar. In the evening, however, at 20.30, we move to Orsera in Val Canzoi. Ivan Mazzon and Bruno Boz will talk about some aspects related to the wild life in the Belluno Dolomites through images and anecdotes related to their activity as nature photographers. To enrich the whole, the musical interludes of the folk trio RudemĆ , composed by Fabio Reolon, Francesco Chiarini and Luca Ventimiglia. The ā€œPelmo d’Oroā€ is therefore coming to life.
