The personnel and mechanical means of the traffic departments of the metropolitan city of Turin and the contractors of the winter maintenance services are at work in these hours to cope with the announced snowfall in the area.

To ensure the safe passage of the roads of metropolitan competence, the following are available: about 150 road operators and technicians specialized in the use of mechanical means and managers of the local teams of road trafficmen, employees of the Authority, who can be alerted 24 hours a day for guarantee the passability of approximately 2,800 km of roads; 640 mechanical vehicles, tractors, heavy and medium trucks, solid cutters and wheel loaders, equipped with salt spreaders and snow clearing blades, of which 60 belong to the Metropolitan City and 580 to the contractors awarded the Winter Maintenance Services; 7 auxiliary snow cutters for the removal of snow coverings in the mountains, with the functions of reinserting the embankments after snowfall; – 40 auxiliary mechanical blades; 16,000 tons of rock salt and 9,000 tons of sand / gravel.
