The 2022 China International College Fashion Week will be held online from July 1 to July 6, 2022. The fashion design works of Southwest University will be released online on the China International College Fashion Week platform at 15:00 on July 4, 2022. Under the theme of this fashion week’s “Yuan·Creation of the East”, Southwest University responded positively, selected more than 70 sets of excellent clothing graduation design works, and completed the online release in the form of video performances.
The China University Student Fashion Week project is approved by the China National Textile and Apparel Council and jointly sponsored by the China Fashion Designers Association, the China Garment Association, and the China Textile and Garment Education Society. Since 2013, it has been held in Beijing in mid-May every year, and has been successfully held for 9 sessions. The clothing design major of the School of Sericulture, Textile and Biomass Science of Southwest University was established in 2001. The origin of the discipline can be traced back to the silk department of the National Central Technical College established in 1939. With more than 80 years of discipline evolution and more than 30 years of hard work, it has become an important area of textile and clothing higher education in China today. The “Integration of Arts and Crafts” model highlights the characteristics of the clothing and clothing design major of Southwest University, follows the law of higher education in clothing, digs deep into the traditional culture of Southwest China, integrates modern design thinking, and promotes technological innovation in the industry. The graduates of 2022 show their understanding and exploration of the “road” through graduation clothing design, the “road” of the integration of tradition and modernity, the “road” of science and technology, and the “road” of communication between people and society… With diverse perspectives and Language interprets and explores the theme, and dialectically thinks about tradition, fashion, creativity, green and sustainable development. Compared with previous years, the biggest highlight of this year’s graduation design works is that student designers can use the industry front-end experience acquired in corporate internships to understand industry needs, and the application of intangible cultural heritage elements, functional design and new materials is more market-oriented. Demand, clothing works can take into account the practicality of the clothing business market demand and complete innovation at the same time. In line with the latest needs of the innovation and development of the clothing industry system for the training of talents in colleges and universities.
The fashion week exhibition provides a good practical opportunity for the professional teaching of the department. First of all, the School of Sericulture, Textile and Biomass Science of Southwest University has the characteristics of multi-disciplinary cross-integration. Students are encouraged to choose topics that can closely combine the geographical advantages of the college, industry and market needs, and cross-border integration with other disciplines, so as to integrate the elements of Southwest African heritage. , Ideological and political elements, interdisciplinary and trend trends run through the graduation design practice, to achieve the unity of knowledge and action, and the combination of virtue and art.
