Standing ovation for Mattarella at the inauguration of the new auditorium of the Florentine Maggio Musicale

Standing ovation in Florence for the entry of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella at the inaugural concert of the Auditorium of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The audience stood up in the new hall named after the master Zubin Mehta, greeting the head of state with two minutes of applause. Mattarella briefly spoke with the authorities present, from the President of the Senate Elisabetta Casellati, to the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, to the vice-president of the CSM David Ermini, to the leader Iv Matteo Renzi.

The Mameli Hymn opened the event

The orchestra and choir of the Maggio Musicale sang the Hymn of Mameli. Maestro Zubin Meha then raised his baton to kick off the choral symphonic concert which includes Giacomo Puccini’s Messa di Gloria for choir and orchestra, with the tenor Benjamin Bernheim and the baritone Mattia Olivieri, the Symphony n. 7 in A major Op.92. by Ludwig van Beethoven. The Maggio Choir is directed by Lorenzo Fratini.

Last public release of the head of state

It is the last public outing from the Head of State outside Rome. Mattarella was welcomed at the entrance of the theater by the mayor Nardella, the governor Giani and the superintendent of Maggio Alexander Pereira.

The new auditorium named after the master Zubin Mehta

The new auditorium of the Florentine Maggio Musicale – built in 900 days with 1,100 seats – is named after maestro Zubin Mehta. Technologically advanced, it ensures the best acoustic perception and versatility of use. Starting from the fact that the stage can be transformed into an orchestra pit. Furthermore, it is possible to lower the curtain and the harlequin from above. The choir space can be transformed into seats for the public and can host from chamber concerts to operas or lectures.
