State flights, Salvini: filing of the case requested

by admin

The then Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini did not commit abuses: during his mandate at the Viminale he used state flights respecting “the criteria of economy, speed of movement and rational use of resources” and always “in the exercise of their functions as Minister of the Interior “. This was reported by a note from the League. The Public Prosecutor’s Office at the ordinary Court of Rome (college for ministerial crimes), requesting the filing of the flights carried out by Salvini with vehicles from the Public Security Department or the Fire Brigade. No tax damage, writes the Prosecutor, also because the costs incurred “do not appear to be clearly higher than those that the Interior Administration would have sustained for the legitimate use of scheduled flights by the minister and all the personnel transported to his following”. The analysis of the documentation “confirmed that the use of the aircraft took place by Mr Salvini in the exercise of his functions as Minister of the Interior, a circumstance that requires that exceptional protection devices be also taken into account (first level) of which this authority is addressed “. The Prosecutor also recalled that for the correct use of these flights “a minimum number of flight tests with crew training must be guaranteed” and that “the accounting prosecutor has ruled out the occurrence of sufficient elements to support a dispute in court of administrative liability, in relation to the deemed impossibility of proving the existence of a tax damage “. The Interior Ministry on May 16, 2019 explained that “in no case has the minister used these services for reasons unrelated to his institutional role”.
