TARCENTO. Mauro Steccati was reconfirmed as mayor of Tarcento. Still supported by the center-right forces, he reconquered Palazzo Frangipane with 47.36% of the votes against the 43.86% obtained by Walter Tomada and 8.78% by Riccardo Prisciano.
Steccati won with 2013 votes, 149 more than Tomada, thus winning the 2016 duel again. During the counting Tomada had hinted at a comeback which, however, he did not complete. «It was a very difficult electoral campaign – declares Steccati -, for various reasons, but above all the climate of hostility that had been created towards us. In the end we did it: teamwork was fundamental, because the reconfirmation of support from citizens is the most difficult thing ».
Steccati’s victory is also that of the center-right, which supported him compactly. The mayoral candidate was also able to count on the contribution of party representatives: “It was support that helped us – adds Steccati – and we thank President Fedriga, Councilor Riccardi and all the political leaders who supported our electoral campaign . A winning choice to present ourselves as exponents of the center-right, without hiding and without tactics, so much so that this team is made up of two party lists and two civic lists. People understood the program we presented and appreciated our concreteness: work started, accounts in order and savings of 680 thousand euros. Now the commitment will be to finish what has been started and to start the works already financed ».
The challenger Walter Tomada stopped at 43.86% with 1864 votes, obtaining good results on the number of votes in particular of the lists Renewing Tarcento and Una nuova Tarcento: “I take note of the choice made by the voters – the comment of Tomada -, now a reflection will open especially with regard to myself because I take responsibility for the defeat. We observe that Steccati obtained 450 less votes than 5 years ago, due to the low turnout. We couldn’t get to these people. We congratulate the winning team and wish them a good job hoping for a more productive five-year period than the one we have seen in this mandate ».
Detached the third candidate in the running, Riccardo Prisciano, supported by three civic lists, who would be the only one of the team to join the municipal council: «In 5 years – his words – I have more than tripled my votes. I am satisfied with my personal result and also with the fact that I got 3 more votes on the Brothers of Italy list. Thanks to these elections we have created a beautiful and healthy political community that is determined not to disintegrate and to look to the future ».
