His name had taken hold in the last few days, when it was now clear that Commissioner Luialready Vercellino, at the top of the healthcare company since the end of last August, would have packed his bags for Alessandria and the candidacy of Carlo Bono, former company health director in the years 2010-2012 and currently director of the Settimo Torinese district, would not have succeeded to take off despite the good support of Salvini’s party at the local level.

Formally, the formalization of the appointment of general directors will come today from the regional council of Piedmont, but that of Scarpetta has already been announced yesterday evening by Andrea Cane, councilor of Lega Salvini Piemonte, vice president of the regional health commission. Cane welcomes Scarpetta (“great skills”) and greets Vercellino (“I thank him for his precious work, his esteem for his commitment with passion and professionalism remains unchanged”) confirming his appointment at the top of the ASL of Alessandria. The first statements from Scarpetta also arrive through the Lega councilor: «Never before have my previous experiences been significantly recomposed as today. From the private experience I will take with me the aptitude for work by objectives, from the period in public health I will draw on the knowledge of the operating machine that will create an advantage in the early days, the last period marked by the experience in the administration of a large company at the forefront of the Covid emergency I will treasure to look at the ASL / To4 accounts with the attention that the health of those who live next to me deserves. Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. I have been vacationing in Viù for 40 years. I live in Lessolo and my birthplace overlooks the Po, this ASL I feel painted on me ». Currently, Scarpetta is the administrative director of the Asst of Monza, a position he has held since 2019. Scarpetta is on the staff of the Asl of Biella, but has been on leave since he moved to Lombardy. In the year prior to his transfer to Monza, he had also been administrative director at the Asti ASL. He also worked at the ASL of Vercelli as a member of the independent assessment body and at the Alessandria hospital. In his curriculum, there is also a period at Csi Piemonte, at Fiat Auto, and in Amos.

Scarpetta arrives at a very complicated moment for ASL / To4, with the budgets in the red, lack of personnel, strategic choices to be made and which have been postponed for some time. It is no coincidence that 98 mayors signed an appeal for continuity. The only positive issue is Piedmont’s exit from the emergency: from the data of the weekly pre-report (punctual Rt dropped from 0.79 to 0.70, incidence below the threshold of 50 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants) we go towards the white zone.
