Cuomo: “We do not ask for support, me certainties for activities and employees”
IVREA. Even the square of Ivrea joined the national protest organized on Tuesday by Ascom against the economic management of the pandemic. About a hundred members gathered in piazza Ottinetti where Luisa Marchelli, president of Ascom Ivrea and Canavese, gave them a voice. “Instead of sending a delegation to the demonstration in Turin we have organized one in our city because Ivrea is suffering – he says -. Bars, restaurants, gyms, cinemas, the culture and entertainment sector have received scarce and bureaucratically laborious support to obtain. In this year of closure or intermittent openings we have unnecessarily incurred costs to comply with safety regulations. Now a glimmer of hope seems to be opening but there are still entrepreneurial realities that cannot operate ».
Marchelli provided some data before formulating specific requests to the government: «The amount of the average refreshment paid to companies is 3,500 euros: nothing if we consider the costs of rents, salaries to employees and bills. We are therefore asking for one or two white years from a fiscal point of view and the extension of the moratorium on bank loans during this emergency “, the president said, who concluded:” Our representatives will continue to negotiate at the national level, but now it is the task of politics take action “.
Gianni Girardi, Ascom Ivrea and Canavese manager and owner of the Girardi Bar, intervened: “We are willing to observe every rule in order to allow customers to enter our premises and these rules should make a distinction depending on whether we operate in a large city or in a small town ». Girardi outlined a scenario: «When the blocking of layoffs ends, all these exhausted companies will leave their employees at home. We will have a flood of people with no prospects and no income who will not be able to restart the economy ».
The entrepreneurs present at the meeting took turns at the microphone. Enrica Duregon, restaurateur of Azeglio, remarked: “During this crisis the Government has not changed the parameters of the sector studies which are the ones that determine the tax and contribution burdens on us”. Toni Cuomo, a well-known Ivorian restaurateur, expressed a concern: “We do not ask for support but for rules to be able to open, especially for our employees, fathers and mothers of families who must be protected”. Similar requests have come from Irma Pagliari, owner of Aqua Gymn: «Managing my sports center costs from 3,000 to 4,000 euros per month. After a year the situation has not changed; we only ask to be able to work, even for our employees who are not receiving a salary ».
Cristiana Beduzzi, owner of three clothing stores in the center, concluded the speeches: «I did not receive refreshments because, having opened a new shop, I increased the turnover: however, the expenses also increased. We ask to work in safety and with the certainty that we can plan the future without more closures. At the end of the rally, the demonstrators reached the town hall where they loudly called the attention of the representatives of the junta. The commissioner Giorgia Povolo met the entrepreneurs receiving from the president Marchelli a copy of the protocol drawn up by the General Council of Ascom Confcommercio containing the association’s requests. Subsequently, the mayor Stefano Sertoli also spoke with the demonstrators. «I express our solidarity to you. We will take action to transmit your protocol to those in charge », assured the mayor, also committing himself to starting a collaboration with trade organizations to find solutions to the problems of the city’s VAT numbers.
