Stop with eight kilos of cigarettes at Treviso airport: fine of 50 thousand euros

The undeclared cigarettes were found inside the luggage of a Romanian citizen coming from Bucharest and bound for Manchester

TREVISO. As part of the checks on passengers in transit at Treviso San Giuseppe Airport, the officials of the Excise, Customs and Monopoly Agency intercepted and seized about 8 kilograms of undeclared cigarettes, found in the luggage of a town Romanian from Bucharest.

The cigarettes, weighing 8,450 grams, or 570 packets, had been concealed in bulk inside the hand and hold baggage by the passenger who arrived in Italy and headed for Manchester.

Since this is an undeclared introduction into the national territory of processed foreign tobacco for a quantity of less than 10 kg, an administrative fine of 50,000 euros was imposed on the basis of the law.
