Ivrea, violent storm on Saturday afternoon: flooding in via Jervis and via Torino

The mayor Stefano Sertoli arrived on the spot accompanied by the acting commander of the municipal police Paolo Molinario and a patrol of the same.

Some inhabitants have shown the mayor signs of flooding on the ground floor of their homes complaining about the inadequate size of the drain pipes of the manholes placed along the road to drain the enormous mass of water that falls during these storms.

Subsequently, the mayor and members of the municipal police went to via Jervis to restore the barriers of the Smat construction site at via Beneficio Santa Lucia overwhelmed by the current of the water.

Not a few problems also created the road system in via Cascinette which was largely flooded at the tennis courts with the water that spread around the roundabout that takes motorists to the lakes and along the road to the intersection with via Strusiglia.

The pavements were also flooded with the few and haggard pedestrians forced to an unwanted soak. Unfortunately it is not the first time that these floods occur in that area when hit by heavy showers, this time the intensity of the rain together with the persistence, over an hour of water and wind, has created the reported inconveniences.
