Strade, towards the reopening of the 131 on the outskirts of Sassari

The rehabilitation works of the viaduct and tunnels have almost been completed

SASSARI. Anas has completed the first phase of the interventions concerning the cortical rehabilitation of the ‘Badde Olia’ viaduct and the modernization of the ‘Chighizzu’ tunnels, on the state road 131 near Sassari. The interventions already carried out have concerned the bridge of the viaduct and the tube of the «Chighizzu 1 tunnel along the carriageway towards Cagliari, which will be partially reopened to traffic. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday 21 June, the subsequent work phases will be launched, involving interventions on the central part of the viaduct deck and along the tunnel tube on the north carriageway (in the direction of Sassari). The construction site on the carriageway towards Cagliari of the “Chighizzu 2” tunnel remains active. The operations necessary for setting up the construction site signs in the new configuration will result in the temporary closure of state highway 131 to traffic, in the stretch between km 204,800 (Ossi / Tissi / Osilo junction) and km 208,800 (Sassari viale Italia junction). To limit the inconvenience, these operations will be carried out during the night, starting from 10 pm tomorrow and until 6 am on Wednesday 22 June. During this time, the traffic will be diverted along the state road 127 »Northern Sarda« and the urban road network of the Municipality of Sassari. The works are part of an extensive redevelopment program of the northern section of the state road 131 aimed at increasing the safety standards of the main Sardinian artery. As regards the ‘Badde Olia’ viaduct, the interventions concern the conservative rehabilitation and structural adjustment for an investment of 4.8 million euros. In the ‘Chighizzu’ tunnel, on the other hand, the modernization and adaptation of the tunnel to the new regulations is underway, involving the installation of new systems, the reconstruction of the flooring and signage and the replacement of safety barriers, for an investment of 15 million euros.
