Strambino, vandalism against the newsagent’s toilet, station in the viewfinder

The booth was closed to the public years ago. Now it is hoped to trace those responsible thanks to the cameras

STRAMBINO

The vandals return to the train station. This time they have targeted the toilets closed to the public years ago, which are located in a small detached building adjacent to the central building. The bathrooms are for the exclusive use of the newsagent who works within the station area. Acting probably at night, the vandals completely ripped the door off. For now, those responsible remain unnamed, but we must wait for what the images of the external cameras will say.

The municipal councilor Fabio Cignetti informed the Turin management of Rfi, the sole manager of the railway structure and systems, so that he can restore and make the entire area safe as soon as possible. “We do not know to whom we have to report the recent damage – explained one of the owners of the newspaper resale housed in some of the internal rooms of the station building – we have the key to the door, now torn, of the toilets closed to the public but that we can only use us, since we have no other services within the building that houses our newspaper and train ticket resale. We hope – concluded the newsagent – that, also thanks to the intervention of the Municipality of Strambino, the door will be repaired as soon as possible and the only toilet that we can use during opening and working hours will be made accessible again ».

Among the most recent acts of vandalism to the structures of the abandoned Strambino station is that of the use, promptly reported to the Turin FS management, of the premises of the railway depots left unattended and with the doors open, inside which they were clearly visible signs of small, but certainly potentially dangerous, fires lit in the corners of the rooms with residues of meals and drinks left by unknown persons at night.
