STRAMBINO

The mayor of Strambino Sonia Cambursano summoned the dozens of families in via Ronchi of the capital for 6.30 pm on Tuesday 26 in the hall of the town hall of Strambino. The topic under discussion with the approximately 250 inhabitants of via Ronchi is that of the next intervention planned by Smat (Turin Metropolitan Water Company) for the replacement of that 270-meter stretch of the old and now obsolete sewer and water pipes of the Strambinese municipal aqueduct. . The works will be carried out in a short time, within a few weeks.

The reason for the meeting, as the mayor explained in the invitation, is due to the fact that “the execution of the works will involve changes and partial interruptions of the via Ronchi road network”. Smat has entrusted the contract for the works to the temporary association of construction companies: Umberto Scarlata of Vigliano Beillese and Franco di Strambino for a total estimated cost of 237 thousand euros, compared to the initial economic framework of 302 thousand euros, of which 260 thousand for the sewer and 42 thousand euros for the aqueduct. The works for the excavation of the trench around 1.5 meters, and the laying of the new polypropylene pipes will last a few weeks, therefore the Municipality has agreed to interrupt the viability only partially for small sections of Via Ronchi, ensuring residents possibility of reaching their respective homes through temporary changes to the normal road system. “The current sewer network – it is explained in the general report of the project drawn up by the technicians: Giovanni Benedetto, Sergio Tarro – Lucia, Paola Ricca and Marco Donato on behalf of Smat – is of a mixed type and flows into the main section through a well located at the intersection with Via Somis. The planned intervention involves the replacement of the existing sewer pipe with a new split sewer, so there will be a white sewer that will travel in parallel with the new black sewer. At the same time, the new aqueduct pipeline will also be laid to replace the existing one “.

Following this intervention of doubling the sewer pipe between white water and black water, anticipates the Smat, it will be possible in the future to also double the final downstream section that goes from via Somis to via IV Novembre, so that the white water they can deliver to the canal and the black ones to the collector of the purifier. For the section in question, a higher cost of approximately 48,500 euros is estimated, equal to 19 per cent of the total cost of 255,500 euros of the overall project planned for the section of via Ronchi, starting upstream from the intersection with Via Vaccarono to get to downstream at the intersection with Via Somis.

Smat’s intervention will bring, as explained in the technical report: «not only a management but also an environmental benefit as the probability of sewer spills into the surrounding land will be reduced. Finally, the splitting of the sewer is a first step to separate the white sewers from the black ones of the network sewer system in the Tamboletto area in order to give the purifier, as far as possible, only black water and at the same time improve the hydraulic performance of the disposal of white water in the sewer system in the municipal area of Strambino ». The materials used for the new section of the networks: sewage, split between white and black water, and water, ensure a long life of the new systems of: 25 years for pipes and valves, 40 years for building works and 50 years for the sewer and water network collectors of the renewed section of via Ronchi di Strambino. s. r.
