The probative material collected by the Prosecutor’s Office allowed four people to be prosecuted in cases where they would have robbed commercial establishments in two towns in Casanare, in January and May of this year.

Initially, Miguel Ángel Rojas Badillo, 24, Erick Chaparro Maldonado, 25, and Jonathan Smith Ríos Cabrera, 34, were captured as alleged perpetrators of the events that occurred on January 31 in a casino in the municipality of Aguazul ( Casanare).

Those investigated would have stolen, in the form of armed robbery, 12,855,000 million pesos, after which they would have fled the place on a motorcycle.

In the reaction of the National Police, 5,195,000 million pesos were recovered and the motorcycle on which the defendants were traveling was seized, via the village of Cupiagua de Aguazul (Casanare).

Those arrested for the crime of aggravated theft were charged before a court with the function of guarantee control, which was accepted by two of them. They received a non-custodial measure of conditional liberty from the court.

Theft case in Maní

In the second case, Diego Fernando Mejía Dedios, 28, was captured in flagrante delicto on May 31, as allegedly responsible for seizing several meters of copper cable from a commercial establishment in Maní (Casanare).

Two people who would have seized the material would have fled on a motorcycle, which, within the padlock operation, immediately activated by the Police, was located on the outskirts of the town and Mejía Dedios was captured with the allegedly stolen cable inside the trunk of the car, while the other person fled.

Before a court with a guarantee control function, the Prosecutor’s Office charged the defendant with the charge of qualified theft, which was not accepted.

The court ordered him to be deprived of liberty.
