BELLUNO. Summer school? The comprehensive institutes of the province and the higher ones are thinking about it and are organizing themselves, not without having involved the municipalities as well. We are talking about the ministerial circular for providing for the return to school of children of all levels in the periods from June to September to recover not so much skills and knowledge, but that sociality lost during Covid.
And therefore the circular emphasizes the importance of activities to be done perhaps in the open air, or of a motor or laboratory type to encourage children to rediscover being together, teamwork, always of course in compliance with the anti Covid-19 rules. At the IC Tina Merlin, one of the most active in the provincial capital, the manager Bruna Codogno specifies that «we are thinking about summer activities. We made a quick consultation between the teachers and there would be availability, but not to make up for lessons or laboratories of Italian or mathematics ». For Comprehensive 2 of Belluno it will be a question of evaluating the opportunity to adhere to the call that makes available to European funds (Pon), which will expire on Friday.
«Our idea», Codogno specifies, «was to organize a module of motor science or territorial exploration, or physical education, and maybe even a robotics laboratory that is taking young people a lot. We have about thirty hours per module available, but before leaving you need to be sure of the availability of the children all the time. We are in contact with the Municipality of Belluno to coordinate with the summer camp: maybe the teacher can go and pick up the children from the summer camp and then bring them back so as not to make the families go back and forth. We’re working on it. And tomorrow (today for the reader, editor’s note) we will tackle the topic in the faculty board ».
If the comprehensive school joins the Pon project, it will then have to wait to know the outcome of the announcement, and therefore the activities could start at the end of June. Work is also underway at Compresivo 1 in Belluno to understand whether or not to join the initiative. «We are thinking», Deputy Principal De Monte explains, «and on Wednesday we may have some clearer ideas. For now we are evaluating the projects, the availability, and we are also thinking of making use of people from the third sector who already collaborate with our school. The “summer school” plan is used precisely for socialization, not for teaching, also because from childhood to middle school the boys have always been in attendance except for two weeks in February. So sociality becomes fundamental through laboratory and sports activities. We are working in synergy with the other municipal areas and with the municipal administration itself, in order to be able to act in coordination with other activities proposed by the territory.
Summer projects are also being worked on in Ponte nelle Alpi. This was announced by the head teacher of the comprehensive Orietta Isotton underlining that «we are analyzing the situation of the pupils, their needs and problems. We met the municipalities, in Ponte also the associations and we will evaluate together in the coming weeks which activities to propose ».
To explain it is the city councilor Lucia Da Rold who looks to the European Pon funds, but also to other resources to implement these activities. “Pon funds can be used now but also until summer 2022, they are not specific for these three summer months. As a comprehensive and common one, we participated in a meeting organized by the IC to understand what can be done during the summer and also not to go and propose IC activities that overlap with those already present in the area offered by the associations. With the civic library as municipal administration we have given the availability to be able to do activities together. The idea of creating laboratories, each IC can propose activities based on the needs of emerging needs. We have schools with outdoor spaces to use ». –
