Taibon, the mayor against the Cassa “Rejected the proposal in favor of the ATM”

Tormen: La Rurale refused the space offered by the Municipality. The ATM machine near the town hall was taken away

TAIBON

“The bank’s choices are legitimate, but they do not lose sight of the dignity and intellectual honesty of those who represent a community by putting their face on it”.

These are the harsh words that the mayor of Taibon, Silvia Tormen, wrote in recent days at the top of the Cassa Rurale Dolomiti which, after moving to Agordo from Taibon in December 2019, has also removed the ATM from the private building in recent months. near the town hall, effectively leaving the town without the historic collection service.

But it is not so much the choice of the bank that has aroused the anger and indignation of Silvia Tormen, as what the mayor has heard about the alleged responsibilities of the municipality for the elimination of the ATM.

“I was approached by a citizen”, writes Tormen to the bank president, Carlo Vadagnini, to the vice president Piergiorgio Serafini, to the director Ruggero Lucin and to Edi Fontanive, “who charged me with the responsibility of your choice to no longer provide citizenship of Taibon through the ATM in the town center until last December. The person told me that a director (or in any case one of your employees whose identity he did not want to reveal to me) justified the bank’s position by charging the Municipality for its unwillingness to grant a public space in which to transfer the ATM ”.

Words that the mayor of Taibon deemed unacceptable and that prompted her to take a public position, recalling a series of events that took place between autumn 2019 and the last few months. First of all, the visit of the bank delegation to the mayor’s office to inform of the intention to move the offices to Agordo.

“On occasion,” Tormen reveals, “I asked if there was anything I could do to dissuade you from your intention. You answered me: nothing ».

The mayor, however, adds a detail. “Both during our meeting and during the inauguration in Agordo”, he writes to the bank, “there was a promise, on your part, to keep the ATM in Taibon and to try to transform it into an advanced branch that guaranteed higher functionality. You have told me and you have said it publicly ».

A promise that was not kept. The responsibility for this, however, according to the mayor of Taibon, all lie with the bank.

In fact, Tormen recalls that in October 2020 the bank itself had expressed the difficulty in keeping the ATM working “due to critical issues deriving from the ownership of the property” and had asked her if the Municipality could grant a public space, indicating it as an ideal place the wall to the right of the entrance to the town hall.

This hypothesis is not practicable due to a general restructuring project of the town hall. A month later, however, it is the mayor who proposes another solution: the Municipality would have made a small artifact available to the bank in Piazza IV Novembre. The bank should have taken care of the accommodation against an adjustment from the rent.

«From the bank», Silvia Tormen explains, however, «they told me that they did not intend to commit to an investment of that magnitude. Unfortunately, the Municipality did not own any other properties in a position considered by the bank to be advantageous and adequate for that type of service ».

“I would like”, concludes the mayor of Taibon, “that La Rurale would take responsibility both for not having honored her word and for having rejected the offer of the municipality.” –
