TARVISIO. In the last twenty years his restaurant had become a point of reference for the many Austrians who reach Tarvisio every day to taste Italian dishes.
With the pizzeria Italia, managed together with his wife Stella, Riccardo Busettini had made himself appreciated as an entrepreneur since he took over the business a few steps from the former Coccau pass.
Rich, as he was known in the valley, died on Saturday 26 June in his home in central Tarvisio due to a serious illness, assisted by close family members. He was 63 years old.
He was born in Tarvisio in 1958, the second of four brothers, and grew up in Coccau with his family. He leaves his wife Stella, married in 1983, and his daughters Leira and Delia, who in recent years had given him the joy of 3 grandchildren.
After a period spent as an employee in the Valcanale Porterage Cooperative, in 1999 the decision was made to take over the pizzeria. His was a courageous decision, which immediately proved to be spot on.
In fact, within a few years, thanks also to the support of his family, he had managed to make it a very popular place, especially by Austrians but also by valley dwellers and tourists.
«On weekends it was difficult to find a free place in a pizzeria – says an old friend -. Riccardo and Stella, with Lele’s support, were able to make customers feel at ease, and chatting with them was always pleasant. We will miss him, a beautiful person is gone ».
Busettini had also promoted the Sagra del Cippo, now in its fifteenth edition, giving space to the typical characteristics of the territory of the three borders and managing to unite the operators who worked around the border.
The pizzeria was also known for being a fixed meeting point for Tarvisian and Carinthian motorcyclists.
After retirement, Riccardo left the baton to his daughters, who today carry on the pizzeria business successfully.
A generous person, Busettini, throughout his life, has always cultivated a passion for music and for the guitar. He also loved being outdoors and nature, and as soon as he could, with his beloved dogs, he walked the mountain paths.
He was very attached to his grandchildren and very attached to the town where he grew up, Coccau, and right here, friends and relatives, will greet him on Monday 28, at 2.30pm, with a civil ceremony on the Plain. –
