The 2022 calendar of the Treviso Tribune will be presented as a gift on Tuesday 21 December

There are squares, villas, castles: twelve shots by Victorian photographers Gaetano Ruggiero and Ivano Maso

TREVISO. Looking over Mount Pizzoc at sunset it seems like entering a dreamlike dimension, while the night of the Buranellis in Treviso is tinged with a mysterious green. The Neptune in Conegliano becomes the emblem of a metaphysical landscape, with the background from Piccadilly Circus. And again the narrow serpentine of cement gray, which penetrates the San Boldo pass, echoes the water snake that more placidly crosses the Sile river park.

The Marca as you’ve never seen it in the twelve images by Gaetano Ruggiero and Ivano Maso, which make up the calendar of the Treviso grandstand as a gift to readers on Tuesday 21st. The Victorian couple of photographers managed to find the new perspective, the focus on the whole, the attention to what cannot be seen with the naked eye, exploring the well-known beauties of our territory from a new point of sight. “We represented landscapes, architectures, city views, squares, trying to enhance their essence and charm, their meaning and aesthetics” explains Ruggiero “and we did it using the most modern shooting systems, such as the drone, which led to seeing the subjects with new eyes, as well as the color effects in post production, to give an artistic aura to the shot, given that photography today is no longer a mere representation of reality, but incorporates the authorial imprint of I photograph”.

Among the squares represented there is Oderzo in November, during the day from above, with its sundial designed by the architect Follina, and Vittorio Veneto (Piazza Flaminio), at night from below, with Christmas lights in December. Villas and castles cannot be missing and their aerial vision restores all the elegance and majesty: from villa Pisani to Montebelluna, inserted in a layered composition like a jewel set between the woods and the Italian garden, to the temple of Possagno, exalted by a perspective that gives credit to the decoration of the pavement in front, from the Castle of Castelfranco, enhanced by a September light, to that of San Salvatore in Susegana, in the “golden hour” of a fairytale sunset. «It takes half a day to find the perfect photo» continues Ruggiero «you have to scout the location, take the drone to the right distance, wait for the moment: it’s not just about technical skills but above all about passion. To represent the hills, a Unesco World Heritage Site, we have chosen Vidor, which has a particular slope for the rows of vines, the eye-catcher par excellence on the Prosecco landscape. And only from above could one get an idea of the wide bend of the Sile, enjoying the decoration created by the moored white boats and the foliage, while the sky reflected on the water makes the chromatic effect even more dynamic “. A hymn to the splendor of our territory, which is never taken for granted, especially in tiring times like the ones we are experiencing. «I would like to wish with my photos a pandemic-free 2022» closes Ruggiero «and invite every look to regain possession of the beauty that surrounds it».
