UDINE. Friulian culture has won its battle. The historic headquarters of the Colonos cultural association, the place that for thirty years has hosted some of the most beautiful shows seen in Friuli, is safe for the moment. Yesterday, the auction for the sale of the Agriturismo ai Colonos, in Villacaccia di Lestizza, was suspended and postponed until after the summer.
A period that will allow you to gain valuable time to reflect even better on further actions to be taken in the immediate future to maintain the availability of the historic headquarters of the association.
In recent weeks, many intellectuals, writers, musicians, journalists, politicians, artists but also citizens eager to preserve the tradition and roots of a people, had joined the appeal launched by Sergio Cecotti, Friulanist, professor and former president of the Region and mayor of Udine, to save the Colonos, the Rossi family’s farmhouse in Lestizza, a forge of ideas and a place of research, where the Friulian culture and language continue, through the experimentation of new languages, to be handed down to future generations.
The building complex had been put up for sale following the insolvency of the property. The base price is 296,600 euros with a minimum bid of 222,450 euros. The danger of seeing the headquarters stolen from its current and historical destination has also led the banking system to take time to find solutions to the crisis that has involved the activity of the agricultural company and the agritourism, home to a partnership that has become, over the years, one of the most vital cultural reference points of the Friulian panorama.
The request to suspend the sale was accepted by the judge and this will allow, as mentioned, to gain valuable time to organize further actions to be taken.
The president of the Colonos, Federico Rossi, thanks the many people who have responded to the appeal in recent weeks “giving a concrete sign of closeness to the Colonos and laying the foundations for a long-term project, which the suspension of the auction will now allow to clearly define and participate in the community of friends and donors that has been created in defense of this symbolic place of Friulian culture ».
Rossi points out that if the banking system had the sensitivity to postpone the auction it is also because the mobilization was clearly perceived. “If it has had such an effective response – concludes the president of the Colonos – it is certainly also due to the attention that the” Messaggero Veneto “has reserved for the campaign to safeguard this space, communicating its various phases step by step to the readers .
