BELLUNO. The new Repubblica Guide “Veneto by bike” is on newsstands since September 24th, conceived as a concrete and detailed tool for exploring the region at a slow pace, telling a love story, the one between Veneto and the bicycle, which also goes to beyond tourism. The volume collects 52 selected itineraries among the most evocative of a region that from the Dolomite peaks to the flat horizons of the Po Delta proves to be suitable for cyclists. “Veneto by bike” arrives on newsstands at the end of a summer spent in the name of proximity tourism, where the bike embodies the symbol of a new way of vacationing and relating to the environment.

As the director of the Repubblica Guides Giuseppe Cerasa points out in the introduction, «almost post Covid, cycling is necessary and compatible with more careful and measured lifestyles. Bike to live better, to move better, to know better, to love more what surrounds us and that we often ignore ».

The first pages offer a roundup of interviews with Venetian personalities among athletes or simple enthusiasts, including Massimo Carlotto, one of the most popular noir writers in Italy, who gives a story of his “stalks” on the Prosecco hills and in the Belluno area. After Carlotto, there is plenty of space for the “champions on the saddle” such as Moreno Argentin, Paola Pezzo, Silvio Martinello, Dino Zandegù and Filippo Pozzato. There is no shortage of stories from representatives of large Veneto companies in the sector: Pinarello, Campagnolo, Selle Italia, Sportful are now world-renowned brands. Also underlining this is Fabrizio Brancoli, director of Mattino di Padova, the Tribuna di Treviso, the Nuova di Venezia and the Corriere delle Alpi, for which “the bike is transport, vacation, training, competition, memory and pure industry, given that the the sports system sector records major business players, bicycle factories but also of accessories and all satellite goods that orbit around a passion that is, at the same time, myth and rationality ».

Lake Santa Croce, the picturesque village of Sottoguda, Alleghe among the stages of the Belluno itineraries that are discovered page after page in the large chapter dedicated to Belluno. Feltrino is another pedal-friendly territory as well as Ampezzano with the former Cortina – Calalzo railway among the itineraries to do and redo: once for the landscape and another to visit the museums that dot the route. From the mountains to the sea through alpine villages, waterways, green hills, alluvial plains and springs up to the Venice lagoon: it is a possible undertaking in which the reader can try his hand after the right “tips” collected in the chapter “In Veneto su two wheels”.

Over 650 addresses divided between taste shops, trattorias, gourmet restaurants, luoghee of charm and farmhouses complete the volume where cycling, good food and good living become synonyms.
