It will be the medical examiner, today, to establish the causes of death. What is certain is that the corpse found on the left bank of the Ivrea canal kept the whole district of San Giovanni and anyone who passed between via Don Mosetto and viale Friuli with bated breath for an entire afternoon.
Ever since a passer-by, shortly after lunch, reported the presence of a dying man on the shore, among other things in a position close to the road. So intervened the agents of the Ivrea and Banchette police station who immediately fenced off the area and prevented the onlookers from entering.
The men of the deputy commissioner Giorgio Pozza continue their investigations into the matter, on which the Ivrea prosecutor has ordered the necessary investigations, entrusted to prosecutor Lea Lamonaca.
Although the epilogue of the story is not yet written, therefore, all the first evidences lead us to believe in a very sad ending. Apparently the man, a 55-year-old resident in the area, had lost his wife by natural death yesterday morning.
At home he would leave a note in which he wrote that life, without his long-time partner, seemed intolerable to him.
As soon as they heard the news of his disappearance and once they read the ticket, the relatives began to look for him far and wide, in the fields of the area, until they found him wounded, with his wrists cut, dying on the bank of the canal where he expired.
All elements that point to the suicide trail, which is considered the most probable. But not the only one, however.
It is still unclear whether the 55-year-old Ivrea’s death is due to the cuts found along his wrists. A death from natural causes could even have occurred, given that the man, in pain, wandered for a long time in the fields.
However, the place where the body was found does not suggest that the 55-year-old may have remained in that position on the bank of the canal for a long time. Many, in fact, walk and jog along the bank of the canal.
Also right in front of the place of discovery there is a soccer field, very popular with children of the area. There are also houses, a bus stop. It is certainly not open countryside, but a vital part of the neighborhood.
However, it will be up to the coroner to establish the exact causes of death and understand what role the cuts found have played. While the investigators will put an end to the story, at the moment, despite the yellow of the discovery remains, that of suicide seems the most probable hypothesis. –
