The Burida lake divided in half: on one side the shore is covered with brambles, on the other it is an oasis

The ambition to make Burida an environmental and tourist reference point had developed again in 2005 when Rotary Pordenone, Rotary Alto Livenza and Palazzetti spa, promoted the conference “The lake of Burida, an oasis for the territory. A redevelopment project “

There is not only the Noncello river among the water treasures of Pordenone that is struggling to be valued. Another unfinished project is the one involving the Burida lake, a body of water that connects Pordenone to Porcia and that only the latter municipality seems to perceive as a public good to be made as accessible as possible by the community. On the Pordenone side, however, the lake seems to remain a place used only by those who have houses overlooking the water and not all of them, given that, in any case, between the private land and the real body of water there is an area where the brambles suffocate the vegetation and where no one passes, except for the small animals that live in that habitat.

The project

The ambition to make Burida an environmental and tourist reference point had developed again in 2005 when Rotary Pordenone, Rotary Alto Livenza and Palazzetti spa, promoted the conference “The lake of Burida, an oasis for the territory. A redevelopment project “. In that context, a project was presented that provided for the recovery of the two banks with the idea of creating – without invasive interventions – a lakeside circuit as well as a pier for rowing activities.

Evolution

This was followed by many words and commitments by the administrations that followed. In Porcia the municipal councils – even in political discontinuity – have guaranteed maintenance and development of the area. Among other things, Porcia has renewed the agreement with Friel (owner of the banks) to have the authorization to keep the area of its pertinence clean, while Pordenone has not renewed that agreement.

The decisive year

In 2019, on the occasion of the dinner, also organized by Rotary to thank the volunteers of the lake and talk about the future, the Municipality through the Councilor for the Environment Stefania Boltin had made the commitment to carry out the cleaning of the brambles on the Pordenone side of the the needle. Volunteers were also found (scouts and soldiers from the Aviano base), then Covid arrived. All postponed. The summer of 2020 has passed and that of 2021 has also passed and silence is total. It is no mystery that on the exploitation of the Burida, the position of Councilor Boltin is isolated in addition. The environmental project has never been pursued by others.

Excellence

Lake Burida is also a sports and social center of excellence, created by the experience, competence and passion of Mauro Baron and his team. After the inauguration of the new pier, four years ago, thanks to Libertas and the canoe and kayac Cordenons group, the activity was intensified. The lake is also the home of the Women in Pink – the breast operated women – who train here and who have participated in very important sports competitions; athletes from other disciplines are helped to integrate their training at the lake. The lake is also the scene of great emotions such as those given by Riccardo, a blind boy, who has learned to paddle with incredible safety. The lake could also be the scene of international competitions, to achieve which, however, the two shores are needed. Finally, you should arrive at the lake by bicycle starting from Noncello, with a cycle network which, however, is only on paper for now.
