TREVISO. The Multidisciplinary Center for Prostate Cancer the Ca ‘Foncello was awarded the “Blue Stamp” from Fondazione Onda. It falls between 94 health structures that, at national level, guarantee a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of the disease, through personalized and innovative paths and through the collaboration between different specialists, such as urologist, radiotherapist, medical oncologist, pathologist, radiologist, nuclear doctor, psychologist.

The Complex Operative Unit of Urology of the Treviso hospital, directed by Dr. Mario Salvatore Mangano, has always played a leading role in the treatment of prostate cancer. In fact, every year there are about 250 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer and receiving an adequate therapeutic program. They are overall over two thousand patients followed for this pathology from diagnosis, during the course of treatment and in the follow-up after treatment.

Since the introduction in 2015 in the operating theaters of the Urology of Robot Da Vinci Xiof the latest generation, were carried out approx 110 robotic surgeries minimally invasive per year. In the course of 2020 and 2021, despite the pandemic emergency, the Urology team carried out approximately 80 procedure all’anno, thus managing to maintain excellent qualitative and quantitative standards. Since the beginning of 2022, 30 robotic radical prostatectomy operations have already been performed.

Furthermore, the pandemic did not have repercussions with regard to an important aspect of modern medical practice: in fact, a company group was established for the multidisciplinary management of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer in all stages of the disease. The “Multidisciplinary Team of Prostatic Neoplasia” of the Hospital is made up of the figures most involved in the diagnostic and therapeutic pathways: urologists, radiotherapists, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine doctors, physiatrists; Periodic meetings are held in which individual cases are discussed collectively and, thanks to the synergy and skills of several specialists, the treatment path is planned in compliance with what is suggested by the Guidelines on the subject, according to an approach intended to always constitute plus the future of modern medicine.
